About The Position

Position Summary: The Construction Manager is responsible for the coordination and management of multiple installation projects. This position works with the Project Managers, construction team, subcontractors, and customers to execute all levels of installation projects from shipment through project closeout.

Requirements

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills; with the ability to effectively communicate and instruct others with complex commercial or technical information.
  • Have extensive training in or the ability to obtain competent certification in operation of material handling mobile equipment, rigging/crane operation, and other critical operational functions.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects at various stages of the project lifecycle in a demanding environment.
  • Ability to work proactively and independently on a broad variety of projects occurring simultaneously.
  • Demonstrated understanding of mobile devices, such as laptops, tablets, and smartphones.
  • Proficient in Google Gmail, Google Drive, Microsoft Word, Excel, Smartsheets scheduling software, Raken daily reporting software, etc. as technology develops and the company adjusts.
  • Use of laser levels, optical transits, and other construction equipment and how to take and record elevations and degree measurements accurately.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills.
  • Solid problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to contribute and work in a team environment.
  • Ability to demonstrate and inspect work for accuracy and thoroughness to ensure first quality of work.
  • Ability to establish and maintain healthy working relationships with people of various disciplines.
  • Willingness to work additional hours in order to meet tight deadlines.
  • BS degree Construction Management and/or related field, extensive field experience can substitute for a BS degree.
  • Have current or obtain MSHA training certificate within the first 30 days of employment.
  • Have current or obtain OSHA-30 hour training within the first year of employment.
  • Have current or obtain First Aid certification
  • Have or can obtain a United States Passport.

Nice To Haves

  • Class A CDL driver’s license issued within the United States is preferred but not required.
  • Previous experience in bolted steel tank or aboveground storage tank industry preferred.
  • Previous management experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate with Project Managers on upcoming installation job readiness, schedule, specific requirements and preparation.
  • Professionalism on various types of high-profile job sites to represent both Tank Connection Construction and Tank Connection as a whole with customer relations.
  • Initiate and share scope of work outlines to the crew assigned with various types of dry silo, liquid tank, and aluminum cover applications.
  • Control installation budget and efficiency of resources allocated while maximizing profit to the project margins.
  • Maintain lines of communication with customer jobsite representatives in terms of job activities and project schedule as well as with in-house and outside crew foremen in terms of job activities, project schedule, and project budget.
  • Determine, arrange, and manage jobsite equipment needs through rental companies and Tank Connection maintenance shop.
  • Negotiate contract values with subcontractors and manage change order/back charge dollars from the original scope of work.
  • Receive field discrepancies of part questions, drawing questions, build methodologies, etc. and coordinate with the correct internal departments for resolutions.
  • Know and be familiar with every piece and part of tank composition to be able to diagnose and determine field fixes if needed.
  • Learn and be able to provide advisory services to customer contractors for the correct installations of base setting rings and at times full tank or cover installations.
  • Assist in research and development projects within the company by way of testing, documenting, and reporting findings.
  • Be familiar with foundation design drawings and general concrete work/expectations.
  • At times be able to use power tools to cut in nozzles, rework ladders, platforms, and many other tank components either alone or part of a small team while following OSHA or strict safety policies.
  • Be extremely familiar with Tank Connection construction drawings, bill of materials, part description designations, etc.
  • Learn and be able to regurgitate/recite several in-house installation manuals developed by Tank Connection.
  • Ability to track, document, and report all credit card expenses through expense reporting software.
  • Evaluate all types of workplace situations/options and determine the best decision forward for the company.
  • Be knowledgeable of various general construction sequences within the industry.
  • Use of several different types of power and hand tools.
  • Knowledgeable and efficient in leak repair.
  • Maintenance and care of the company truck.
  • Flexible work hours in which occasional evening/night travel and frequent evening/weekend phone calls and emails should be expected.
  • Manage time zone differentials when on location or in the office.
  • Approximately 50% travel to all parts of the United States or to your designated region.
  • May perform other duties as assigned.
