About The Position

KDG Construction Consulting is seeking a Construction Manager to support our project management team in a high-priority aviation environment. This role is responsible for managing and coordinating all construction activities, ensuring that complex programs are delivered safely, on time, and within budget. The Construction Manager acts as the primary liaison for pre-construction and construction activities, including leading the safety, security, and quality initiatives for the program. This position plays a key role in ensuring schedule certainty and making sure that construction work meets the required quality standards while enforcing a strong health, safety, and environmental culture. The Construction Manager will work closely with internal staff, contractors, and stakeholders to optimize risk mitigation and ensure all operational interfaces are managed effectively within an active, operating environment. Position Summary: The Construction Manager is responsible for managing the scope, cost, schedule, and operational interfaces of all design and construction-related activities. This role requires a professional with extensive experience in the project construction life cycle, from pre-construction and estimating/buyout to phasing, implementation, and closeout. The Construction Manager plays a critical role in supporting the development and implementation of design, construction, testing, commissioning, and turnover plans, ensuring that construction risks are optimized and that industry standards are strictly adhered to.

Requirements

  • 15+ years of experience in construction management, with a strong emphasis on large-scale aviation or transportation programs.
  • Experience with projects exceeding $100 million in value.
  • Proven ability to perform in a senior management capacity within an operating/active environment.
  • Experience with various delivery methods, including Design-Bid-Build, CMAR, and Design-Build.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, Bluebeam, and Project Management Information Systems (PMIS).
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Architecture, Aviation, Business, or a related technical field.
  • High level of leadership and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to identify, communicate, and resolve complex construction issues.
  • Commitment to maintaining excellent working relationships geared toward mutual problem-solving.
  • Expert knowledge of industry practices and safety regulations.

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s degree in a related field.
  • Professional certifications such as PE, PMP, CCM, LEED, AAAE, or AICP.
  • Specific experience emphasizing concourse scope, headhouse scope, or site/civil scope.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor all on-site field construction activities associated with the completion of the project.
  • Apply comprehensive knowledge of various disciplines, methods, and techniques used during construction and installation.
  • Ensure construction operations follow approved work plans and Area Shutdown Requests (ASRs), verifying all proper notifications are made.
  • Become thoroughly familiar with required contractual obligations and technical aspects of all facilities to be erected.
  • Ensure all work is performed and inspected according to the latest versions of plans, specifications, submittals, and RFIs.
  • Prepare periodic reports summarizing progress of construction activities for higher-level management and clients.
  • Work with contractors and stakeholders to develop overall planning and identify critical milestones and priorities.
  • Monitor budget estimates and staffing requirements for the defined scope and schedule.
  • Monitor the assignment of manpower, materials, and equipment to maximize efficiency and meet budget goals.
  • Maintain alertness to possible problem areas and take preventative action to ensure milestones are met for each phase.
  • Review contractor potential change order claims for merit and negotiate to final resolution.
  • Lead the safety, security, and quality programs for the assigned scope.
  • Lead stakeholder engagement to identify, communicate, and resolve needs while preserving project principles and constraints.
  • Ensure the use of sound and safe construction practices to attain required quality control at maximum efficiency.
  • Ensure effective implementation of all policies and procedures, including project labor agreement policies.
  • Participate in all necessary coordination meetings with contractors, trade partners, and operational stakeholders.
