About The Position

The Construction Manager will lead the planning, development, and execution of all construction projects for Sport Clips, including new store locations, store remodels, and act as a subject matter expert for franchise buildouts. This position will oversee and guide company-owned and provide guidance to Team Leader (franchisee)-led construction projects, ensuring that they adhere to brand standards, timelines, and budgets. The Construction Manager will collaborate with Team Leaders to support the journey of opening a new store from the design and construction perspective, manage relationships with contractors, vendors, and oversee compliance with local building codes, safety standards, and operational requirements for all company-owned locations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management or a related field.
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in construction management, with at least 2 years in the retail or franchising sector.
  • Proven experience managing large-scale construction projects, including new builds, renovations, and franchise buildouts.
  • Strong understanding of franchise operations and the unique requirements associated with franchised locations.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with both internal teams and Team Leaders.
  • Excellent project management skills, with a demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously across Company-owned and franchise locations.
  • In-depth knowledge of construction software, budgeting tools, and project management platforms.
  • Ability to analyze complex construction issues and develop strategic solutions.
  • Strong financial acumen and experience managing large budgets.
  • Knowledge of building codes, safety regulations, and industry best practices.
  • Experience working with franchisee agreements, construction specifications, and support requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Lead effective collaboration with both internal teams and Team Leaders.
  • Provide ongoing guidance and support to Team Leaders in the planning and execution of their construction projects.
  • Oversee day-to-day operations of company projects, ensuring efficiency, quality, and alignment with brand standards.
  • Oversee the planning, execution, and completion of retail construction projects for company-owned stores and assist Team Leaders as needed for their locations, from initial concept through final handover.
  • Collaborate with Team Leaders to align on construction schedules, budgets, and design requirements to ensure consistency across all locations.
  • Manage internal construction projects as well as act in an advisory capacity for Team Leader-led projects, ensuring timelines, budgets, and quality standards are met.
  • Manage and approve project budgets for company-owned locations, ensuring cost-effective solutions while maintaining quality and safety standards.
  • Work closely with Team Leaders to advise on bidding, creating construction budgets, best practices, and provide guidance on cost-saving measures.
  • Review and approve contractor invoices, change orders, and ensure cost control measures are in place for all construction projects.
  • Ensure all construction projects, both for Company-owned and Team Leader locations, comply with local building codes, zoning regulations, safety standards, and environmental policies.
  • Work with Team Leaders to ensure adherence to Sport Clips standards, ensuring any deviations from these guidelines are addressed and resolved.
  • Manage risk assessment processes for both Company-owned and franchise locations, identifying and addressing potential issues before they become problems.
  • Manage relationships with contractors, subcontractors, and suppliers for Company-owned locations.
  • Assist Team Leaders in vendor selection, offer information on best practices for contract negotiation, ensuring alignment with Sport Clips standards.
  • Evaluate and approve bids for construction services, providing Team Leaders with guidance and support to select the right partners.
  • Work closely with senior leadership to align construction projects with the Company’s strategic growth objectives, including expansion plans that involve both Company-owned and franchised locations.
  • Provide input and advice to Team Leaders on construction best practices, design standards, and future growth strategies.
  • Set long-term goals for construction projects across the Sport Clips system, ensuring a consistent brand experience for all locations.
  • Collaborate with the design team to ensure construction plans align with the brand’s aesthetic and operational needs, ensuring consistency across both Company-owned and franchise locations.
  • Oversee store renovations, expansions, and closures, supporting Team Leaders throughout the process to ensure smooth transitions.
  • Provide design and construction guidance to Team Leaders during the build-out and renovation phases, ensuring the brand’s identity is maintained.
  • Act as a primary point of contact for Team Leaders for all construction-related inquiries and support.
  • Offer strategic guidance to Team Leaders on optimizing their construction projects, providing them with tools, templates, and best practices.
  • Monitor Team Leader compliance with brand standards in construction and work to resolve any discrepancies or issues
