Leeward Renewable Energy (LRE) is currently seeking an experienced Construction Manager. The Construction Manager will be Leeward’s onsite representative during the construction and commissioning of Leeward Energy Renewable Energy projects and will report to the LRE Senior Construction Manager. LRE Site Construction Manager serves as the primary on-site leader for large-scale renewable energy projects. In coordination with the assigned LRE Project Manager, will bridge the gap between engineering designs and physical execution, managing from the site mobilization, all civil activities, installation of designed production material, to mechanical completion as well as the initial energization allowing final close out to place all systems into service. This role requires a level blend of technical expertise, contract management, and physical fortitude.

Requirements

  • Strong understanding of construction safety requirements.
  • Understanding of and experience managing administration of construction QA/QC programs covering civil, structural, collection, substation, interconnection, SCADA workmanship.
  • Capable to evaluate over varied third party engineered quality test(s) accounting for geotechnical (proctor, sieve, CPT, NDM), concrete (air content, slump, CST), electrical (VLF, PD, VOB, Ground), fiber (OTDR), etc.
  • Bachelor’s degree in construction management or civil/electrical/mechanical engineering or equivalent field experience minimum of 6 years renewable energy construction management experience to include knowledge of; civil & electrical construction, PV, wind turbine, and BESS installation techniques.
  • Understanding and experience managing renewable energy project contracts and OEM supplier agreements.
  • Able to navigate project specific documents such as IFCs, Contract, Exhibits, PPAs, GIAs, Land Leases, etc.
  • Extensive project management skills with a track record of achievement of complex projects.
  • Effective communication, interpersonal, and negotiations skills.
  • Strong PC skills and software proficiency.
  • Strong managerial/leadership with effective time management skills.
  • Flexibility to work at locations across North America for the majority of the year, with an intensive and extended work schedule

Nice To Haves

  • OSHA 30-Hour, CPR First Aid, AED, & NFPA 70E qualification preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provide safety leadership onsite and ensure all Contractor(s) (EPC, BOP, OEM) and affiliates are adhering to project site safety plan. Reinforcing an onsite project EHS culture that fosters the LRE initiative and yields a zero-injury environment.
  • Understand project budget(s), schedule(s), and provide oversight of all assigned invoicing and draw requests, as well as appraise change orders.
  • Lead a varied team of contract inspectors and/or specialists to monitor and ensure project is being built in accordance with contract, plans, specifications, and scope of work documents.
  • Interface with all project team members as well as varied internal and external departments, tracking issues, facilitating, and expediting solutions.
  • Responsible for maintaining clear and concise communication(s), keeping accurate records and thorough documentation throughout all phases of the project.
  • Actively weigh the consequences of all tasks, from all the disciplines involved in the project to ensure project is being built safely in accordance with contract, plans and specifications.
  • Operate as the stakeholder liaison being the point of contact for landowners, local, state, & executive governing authorities, project associated utility companies, financial, legal, and engineering firms, etc.
