About The Position

This Opportunity WSP is seeking an experienced part-time Construction Manager for our Houston, TX office. This role will be part of our Construction Management team and will oversee construction projects in Houston and Harris County in general. This role will support both new construction and renovation efforts, ensuring all work aligns with project specifications, regulatory standards, and stakeholder expectations. Candidates will be well-versed in all phases of construction projects, familiar with minimum code requirements, and capable of navigating design documents and contract specifications with confidence. Strong communication skills are essential, as the role involves coordination not only with the Contractor but also with a wide range of stakeholders, including client team, WSP business lines, Environmental teams, and others. Your Impact Manage and oversee all phases of construction ensuring compliance with approved plans, specifications, and regulatory standards. Coordinate daily activities with contractors and a broad range of stakeholders, including city and county team, WSP business line(s), Operations, and Environmental teams. Review and evaluate contractor schedules, monitor progress, and identify potential risks or delays and advise client on potential action(s). Support the change management process by assessing proposed changes and facilitating necessary approvals. Navigate and interpret design documents, technical specifications, and contract requirements with accuracy and confidence. Ensure construction activities meet required code requirements and quality standards. Communicate effectively across teams to resolve field issues and maintain project momentum. Participate in project meetings and contribute to decision-making and issue resolution Provide field oversight and documentation, including daily inspection reports and tracking deficiencies. Coordination not only with the Contractor but also with a wide range of stakeholders, including client team, WSP business lines, Environmental teams, and others. Collaborate with inspectors and project managers to verify installed quantities and support pay application reviews. Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct and adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures. Requirements

  • Professional Engineer (PE) / Licensed Civil Engineer
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Construction Management or equivalent experience
  • Minimum of ten (10) years of experience in the construction industry, with a focus on vertical building projects
  • Well-versed in all phases of construction projects, familiar with minimum code requirements, and capable of navigating design documents and contract specifications with confidence
  • Ability to successfully pass a criminal background check
  • Strong understanding of environmental codes and regulatory requirements relevant to airport construction
  • Proficiency in Bluebeam, Microsoft Office Suite, Procore, and SharePoint
  • Familiarity with building codes and standards, and ability to interpret design documents and contract specifications
  • Strong communication skills are essential
  • Valid Driver’s License
  • Available for occasional night-time work as required by project schedules or operational needs

Nice To Haves

  • Certified Construction Manager (CCM) preferred
