About The Position

The Construction Manager/Senior Site Superintendent is a key role within Flatirons Habitat for Humanity. The successful candidate will spend half their time in the field working with construction volunteers and professional site supervisors and half their time working alongside the Associate Executive Director to ensure the long term sustainability of the organization. The Construction Manager's specific responsibilities include all aspects of the construction process for new home builds, renovations, and repairs. This role requires a strategic leader who can manage and direct multiple construction projects simultaneously, ensuring that they are completed on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards. The Construction Manager/Senior Site Superintendent will work closely with the construction staff, Associate Executive Director, volunteers, homebuyers, and subcontractors to ensure that the organization's mission is fulfilled by providing affordable homes for sale. This position requires a hands-on leader with excellent project management skills, a strong understanding of construction practices, and a passion for making a positive impact in the community.

Requirements

  • Possess a Contractor's License for the City of Boulder or willing/be able to apply for required licensure.
  • Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in construction management, with a focus on residential construction preferred.
  • Experience as a framer, carpenter, or other tradesperson desired.
  • Proven history of managing multiple construction projects simultaneously.
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to manage and motivate a diverse team of staff and volunteers.
  • Excellent organizational and project management skills.
  • Deep understanding of construction processes, safety standards, and building codes.
  • Experience with budgeting, cost control, and financial management in a construction context.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and inspire community members, volunteers, and partner families.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise, manage, and work alongside the construction team, including staff, volunteers, and subcontractors.
  • Lead and oversee all construction projects from planning through completion, ensuring adherence to timelines, budgets, and quality standards.
  • Develop and manage departmental and project budgets, ensuring efficient use of resources and adherence to financial constraints.
  • Ensure all construction activities comply with local, state, and federal regulations, as well as Flatirons Habitat for Humanity's safety policies and procedures.
  • Collaborate with homebuyers, volunteers, and community stakeholders to foster strong relationships and ensure the construction process is inclusive and community driven.
  • Implement and maintain quality control processes to ensure all construction work meets or exceeds standards.
  • Oversee the procurement of materials and services, negotiating contracts, and managing relationships with vendors and suppliers.
