About The Position

Turner & Townsend Heery is seeking a highly skilled Construction Manager to represent the client in the execution of a landmark seismic strengthening project for an iconic 52-story high-rise in Downtown Los Angeles. This full-time, on-site role is integrated within the Client’s Project Delivery Team. This is a highly visible and complex assignment involving phased construction in an occupied high-rise building, utilizing a Construction Manager at Risk (CMAR) delivery method.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Architecture, Engineering, or a closely related field.
  • Minimum 8 years of construction field experience, including at least one $100M+ vertical project involving seismic upgrades or occupied high-rise structures.
  • Experience with public-sector construction projects using Construction Manager at Risk (CMAR) and/or Job Order Contracting (JOC).
  • Demonstrated ability to manage QA/QC, change management, and coordination with A/E and CM teams.

Nice To Haves

  • 5 plus years of Public Sector Experience.
  • California Registered Professional Engineer (PE), Architect, or Certified Construction Manager (CCM).
  • Knowledge of Los Angeles County procedures and protocols.
  • DBIA Certification is a plus.
  • Strong working knowledge of hazardous materials abatement, high-rise life safety systems, and MEP coordination in existing buildings.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the County’s daily field representative, overseeing construction activities for compliance with plans, specifications, codes, schedules, and contract documents.
  • Supervise seismic retrofit operations in an occupied high-rise building, ensuring minimal disruption to tenants and operations.
  • Review, track, and coordinate the resolution of RFIs, submittals, change orders, and field directives.
  • Assist County inspectors and specialty consultants; oversee third-party testing and QA/QC efforts.
  • Lead progress meetings, prepare daily field reports, maintain issue logs, and monitor safety compliance.
  • Coordinate punch list, commissioning, and project closeout activities.
  • Ensure the CMAR maintains compliance with County requirements, including labor laws, environmental regulations, and site logistics.
