About The Position

The Construction Management Specialist supports the planning, coordination, and execution of construction and improvement projects for the Flood Control District. The ideal candidate will bring a strong knowledge of construction methods, with key responsibilities that include project scheduling, reviewing construction documents, preparing reports, coordinating field activities, and a commitment to ensuring projects are completed safely, efficiently, and in alignment with District standards.

Requirements

  • Two years of experience as an inspector or two years of experience in an engineering or construction field, including surveying, drainage inspecting, hydrology, and plan review
  • High school diploma or GED
  • Post-secondary education in a related field may substitute for the required experience on a year-for-year basis
  • Successful candidates must currently possess, or have the ability to obtain, a valid Arizona driver's license by the time of hire

Nice To Haves

  • A valid certificate from the National Institute for Certification in Engineering Technologies (NICET) or from the International Code Council (ICC) is preferred

Responsibilities

  • Plan, coordinate, and inspect flood control projects, working with the Construction Manager and the contractor to ensure projects are constructed according to standards, plans, budget, and specifications
  • Determine and document work completed, and materials used; prepare monthly pay estimates for construction contracts
  • Inspect and monitor projects under contract; resolve discrepancies between field conditions and design plans and specifications; recommend methods of resolving complex problems
  • Attend pre-construction and regular meetings with clients, contractors, and other concerned parties to review project progress and to facilitate the resolution of construction difficulties.
  • Respond to questions from citizens and agencies on FCD projects and plans
  • Monitor Storm Water Prevention Protection Plan standards to assure National Pollution Elimination System stormwater requirements are met
  • Assure project deliverables meet scope, schedule, cost, and quality requirements.
  • Performs technical reviews of shop drawings and other submittals
  • Other job duties as assigned
