About The Position

Assists with a variety of skilled general maintenance-related activities, and may perform janitorial and custodial duties as needed. This is a temporary, seasonal position with full time hours , not to exceed 122 days.

Requirements

• Must be at least 18 years of age
• General, skilled maintenance and repair and/or landscape experience.
• Ability to safely operate a variety of hand and power tools.
• Good customer service skills and the ability to work well with others.
• Ability to work outside the normal business day/week as demanded by events and programs.
• Must be available to work all 23 days of the annual OC Fair (mid July – mid August).

Nice To Haves

• Valid California driver’s license to operate a utility cart and other equipment on fairgrounds.
• Experience in safely operating heavy equipment such as forklift, manlift, scissor lift, Bobcat, and/or trash compactor/baler.
• Janitorial or custodial experience.
• Familiarity with the layout and facilities of the OC Fair & Event Center.

Responsibilities

• Assist with skilled general maintenance including roof repairs, framing work, laying concrete, digging trenches, and backfilling holes.
• Assist with gate repairs, cutting lumber, and transporting supplies and materials using heavy machinery
• Provide assistance to plumbers, electricians, carpenters, and painters with projects and repairs when assigned.
• Participate in janitorial and custodial duties including cleaning buildings and facilities, cleaning and restocking restrooms, emptying trash, and cleaning guest tables, and eating areas.
• Will be required to perform other duties as directed, requested or assigned.
