About The Position

MCS is hiring for a Construction Litigation Paralegal in Tampa, FL. This is a full-time, permanent position with benefits and remote capabilities. The Construction Litigation Paralegal supports legal strategy and case management for construction-related disputes, claims, and regulatory matters. This role is responsible for organizing and maintaining case files, coordinating discovery, drafting legal documents, and assisting in trial preparation. The Paralegal will work closely with attorneys and internal stakeholders to gather project documentation, contracts, and other relevant records to support litigation and compliance efforts. It is important that candidates keep abreast of industry trends and developments, as well as applicable Government regulations.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of litigation paralegal experience, with construction litigation experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of construction project documentation and construction claims.
  • Familiarity with state and federal court procedures and electronic filing systems.
  • Experience with complex discovery and large document reviews.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Adobe Acrobat, document management systems, and litigation support platforms.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and deadline-management skills.
  • Ability to work independently and effectively in a remote setting.

Responsibilities

  • Support attorneys in all phases of construction litigation, from pre-suit investigation through trial, arbitration, mediation, and appeal.
  • Draft and prepare pleadings, motions, notices, subpoenas, discovery requests and responses, hearing binders, mediation materials, and trial notebooks.
  • Review, organize, and summarize construction project documentation, including contracts, subcontracts, change orders, RFIs, submittals, schedules, daily reports, pay applications, and correspondence.
  • Manage document production, discovery databases, privilege logs, and electronically stored information.
  • Coordinate depositions, mediations, arbitrations, hearings, expert meetings, and inspections.
  • Prepare case chronologies, witness files, exhibit lists, damages summaries, and deposition or record summaries.
  • Maintain litigation calendars and monitor court deadlines, scheduling orders, discovery deadlines, and trial dates.
  • File pleadings and other documents electronically in state and federal courts.
  • Communicate with clients, experts, consultants, contractors, subcontractors, opposing counsel, court personnel, and vendors.
  • Assist with preparation for hearings, mediations, arbitrations, and trial, including exhibit organization and logistics.
