About The Position

Scotty’s Contracting and Stone is seeking a Construction Laborer to join our Heavy Civil Division. This position supports the successful completion of heavy highway, industrial, and commercial sitework projects. This position requires performing a variety of physical duties on active construction sites to support safe, efficient, and high-quality project execution. Laborers work under the direction of the Foreman, following all safety standards and project specifications. The ideal candidate is dependable, safety-focused, and capable of working effectively in a team environment under varying weather and site conditions.

Requirements

Previous experience performing similar key responsibilities.
Basic knowledge of construction tools, equipment, and safety practices
Must possess a valid driver’s license with a motor vehicle report that is in good standing.
Strong attention to safety and adherence to protocols.
Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
Climbing: Must have the physical capability to safely climb into and out of equipment that is greater than 10 feet off the ground on uneven terrain multiple times daily.
Heights: Ability to climb and work safely at heights exceeding 10 feet.
Balance: Including standing and walking on extremely slick and uneven surfaces while carrying.
Vision: 20/40 corrected vision to see moving safety hazards, moving equipment, vehicles, and obstructions.
Hearing: Corrected to hear verbal safety warnings and instructions.
Awkward positions: Getting to and from both sitting and kneeling on the ground.
Heavy lifting: Awkward parts and equipment up to 50 lbs. from floor to shoulders, and up to 100 lbs. with assistance.
Conditions: Work is performed outdoors in a heavy civil construction environment with exposure to uneven, rocky terrain, dust, dirt, and varying weather conditions, including extreme heat, cold, and rain.

Responsibilities

Perform general heavy civil construction labor duties
Direct and control the flow of traffic through construction zones using signs, hand signals, and other traffic control devices.
Communicate clearly with crew members, equipment operators, and the public to ensure safety and efficient traffic movement.
Monitor traffic and work zone conditions, adjusting signals and equipment as needed to maintain a safe environment.
Assist with the safe entry and exit of construction vehicles and equipment from the work zone.
Remain alert and attentive to changing conditions and potential hazards at all times.
Follow all safety regulations and company policies regarding work zone safety and personal protective equipment (PPE).
Adhere to all company, local, and federal safety regulations and protocols to minimize risk to workers, drivers, and pedestrians.
Remain aware of site conditions and report any hazards or issues to the lead or foreman promptly.
Be prepared to work outdoors in various weather conditions.
Perform other physical tasks required to maintain the job site.
