About The Position

This is your chance to join our team - help us to design the infrastructure and buildings that improve the world! We have an immediate need for qualified construction inspectors for transportation facilities, highway and bridge improvements including signal installations (new and upgrades) in Delaware - Statewide.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or State Equivalency Certificate.
  • A minimum of 5 years of specific field construction inspection experience.
  • Demonstrated inspection experience in DelDOT roadway safety & intersection improvement construction, safety improvements, bridge rehabilitation, pavement resurfacing, and related ancillary improvements.
  • Valid driver's license and personal vehicle for travel to and from assigned construction sites.
  • Good communication skills.
  • Ability to read/interpret plans and specifications.
  • Writing and drawing skills necessary to complete inspection reports and sketchbooks.
  • Basic computer skills (Microsoft Office) for completing electronic inspection reports.

Nice To Haves

  • NICET (Levels I - IV) certification.
  • Temporary Traffic Control (ATSSA) certification.
  • Sediment & Erosion Control certification (e.g., DNREC CCR).
  • Materials Testing and Inspection certification (e.g., ACI, MARTCP, PennDOT).
  • Familiarity with construction management field documentation (e.g., IDRs).
  • DelDOT - Unifier experience.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor contractor's work for conformance to design plans, specifications, and general permit requirements.
  • Track daily quantities and complete daily inspection reports.
  • Review payment requisitions and maintain field sketchbooks and as-built drawings.
