About The Position

WSP is seeking a Construction Inspector to join their Milwaukee office, contributing to various projects with the PM/CM Team. The role involves assisting in the collection and analysis of data from construction sites, performing inspections, and ensuring compliance with relevant codes and standards. The inspector will work under general supervision, providing technical assistance and generating documentation related to inspection findings.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant post-education experience in construction inspection.
  • Valid state driver's license.
  • Familiarity with WisDOT construction inspection principles and practices.
  • Knowledge of relevant construction codes and compliance practices.
  • Excellent research and evaluation skills with an analytical mindset.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills for effective interaction with technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team to meet business objectives.
  • Basic proficiency with technical writing and office automation tools.

Nice To Haves

  • Associate's Degree in a closely related discipline is preferred.
  • Essential professional licensure or certification.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with collecting, compiling, and analyzing data from physical work sites and technical drawings.
  • Perform basic professional inspections of site conditions, equipment, and materials to ensure compliance with standards and permits.
  • Provide technical assistance for the inspection and functioning of buildings, roads, bridges, and other structures.
  • Verify load calculations and interpret contract plans and specifications, escalating issues as necessary.
  • Generate accurate documentation and specifications related to inspection findings using various electronic systems and reports.
  • Comply with client policies and safety guidelines during inspection work.
  • Exhibit knowledge of current field inspection practices and collaborate with other professionals on inspection tasks.
  • Exercise ethical decision-making regarding company resources and adhere to WSP's Code of Conduct.
