WSP is currently initiating a search for a Full-Time Construction Inspector for our Cincinnati, Ohio office. Your Impact Assist with collecting, compiling, and analyzing data from the physical work site, surveys, structural plans, blueprints, schematics, data, technical drawings, flow diagrams, material sampling, computer-generated reports, and other matrices for field inspection activities. Under minimal supervision, use survey instruments, metering devices, and test equipment to perform basic inspections of proposed and existing site conditions, equipment, construction, materials, controls, resources, layout, alignment, and elevation to determine conformance with applicable rules, standards, codes, and construction or operating permits. Provide routine technical assistance that accounts for the proper inspection, construction, and functioning of buildings, highways, roads, bridges, structures, infrastructure, equipment, and/or mechanical systems according to design standard specifications. Assist with verifying load calculations, change orders, interpretation of contract plans and specifications, recognizing basic construction, engineering, or survey problems and escalating any differences, errors, or technical problems for appropriate resolution. Attend pre-construction meetings and assist with answering questions from contractors and other attendees. Assist with calculating payments due to contractors for work completed. Assist with ensuring adequate levels of equipment and materials are assigned to projects, ensuring that material tests are performed, and materials meet required standards. Generate complete, accurate, and concise documentation and specifications related to inspection findings using electronic systems, written/oral feedback, photographs, drawings, diagrams, illustrations, spreadsheets, and reports. Comply with client policies and procedures for inspection work under contract. Comply with safety guidelines and site-specific procedures which include but are not limited to, location data, statistical documentation, studies and surveys, and construction. Complete training on assigned tasks. Exhibit basic knowledge of current field inspection practices. Work collaboratively with other professionals, scientists, engineers, inspectors, project control, and technicians on assigned inspection phases, checks, and tasks. Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct, and adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures.
