About The Position

Lumos & Associates is seeking a skilled professional to perform independent field inspections and materials testing on public works, Caltrans, and transit construction projects throughout Northern California. What You Will Do As a Construction Inspector, you will be responsible for ensuring all construction work meets project requirements, safety standards, and regulatory guidelines. Your responsibilities will include: Perform field inspections and materials testing in accordance with project plans and specifications. Prepare daily inspection and testing reports. Interpret construction plans, specifications, and standards to verify compliance. Monitor material quality and workmanship. Issue stop-work orders when required and verifying corrective actions. Participate in project meetings and providing technical input. Monitor job-site safety and reporting hazards or deficiencies. Document construction progress, issues, and resolutions. Perform other related duties as assigned. What We are Looking For Experience Minimum of three years of construction inspection experience on major highway or public works projects or a blend of education, experience, and/or relevant certifications. Caltrans or transit project experience (preferred). Required or Preferred Certifications (or ability to obtain within 6 months of hire) NICET Level I – Construction Materials Testing (Asphalt, Concrete, or Soils) Caltrans JTCP ACI Field Technician Grade I OSHA 10 Radiation Safety / Nuclear Density Gauge Special Inspector Certifications (Preferred) ICC Reinforced Concrete Special Inspector ATSSA Traffic Control Supervisor Other state, regional, or nationally recognized certifications that require experience and written exams will be considered. Technical & Professional Skills Knowledge of Caltrans Standard Plans, Specifications, and Construction Manual (preferred). Familiarity with inspection equipment, surveying, and materials testing. Experience with roadway, bridge, rail, airport, utility, marine, or port construction. Strong documentation and reporting skills. Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook). Experience with Microsoft Project software is a plus. Professional demeanor and strong client communication skills. Physical & Travel Requirements Ability to work outdoors in varying weather and terrain. Ability to lift up to 75 pounds. Ability to work overtime as needed to meet project deadlines. Ability to travel between job sites and offices using a company vehicle. Valid driver's license and driving record with 3 or less demerit points. Why Join Us? Requirements
