The Construction Inspector will conduct Quality Assurance work for the USACE Vidalia Area Office. Inspector shall provide quality assurance inspection services for the Articulated Concrete Mattress Casting project near Delta, LA. The inspector will normally be expected to perform duties 5 days a week. It is anticipated that the work hours will be 10 hours per day, 5 days per week. Work hours could be less than 8 hours per day depending on the level of activity ongoing at the worksite. Overtime is anticipated. Selected candidate for the Construction Inspector role will possess the following skills or experience: · Demonstrate a minimum of 4 years of experience in construction contract administration performing responsibilities listed below. · With little to no direct daily supervision, serve as a member of a Quality Assurance team engaged in the inspection of contract activities in connection with the mat casting project. · Observe and report on assigned projects to government personnel and implement government decisions/guidance/law/regulations and policy in support of the project. · On-site inspection assignments, may include but are not limited to the following typical items: o Earthwork and Embankments. o Channel Improvement. o Foundations. o Revetment, Dikes and Upper-Bank Revetment o Stone Placement o Concrete o Structural and Buildings · Post records and assemble and compile data for the preparation of reports of construction activities. · Provide recommendations to accept or reject workmanship, materials, methods and practices conforming to, or failing to conform to established standards, procedures, and practices. · Investigate controversial issues arising during progress of work and make oral or written reports for review. · Communicate with contractor personnel and coordinate inspection of contractor work to ensure the work meets specifications. · Demonstrate proficiency in the use of spreadsheets and word processing applications. · Use U.S. Army Corps of Engineers automated information systems (RMS) as required. · Knowledge of the Three Phases of Construction. · Safety and knowledge of USACE EM 385-1-1. · OSHA 30 training. · USACE CQM for Contractors.
