About The Position

The Tepa Companies are seeking a Construction Inspector (CI) who will perform construction management duties that will support Tinker Air Force Base Civil Engineering Group. The position will be responsible for ensuring the Government receives quality and complete work as defined and specified in the contractual documents which require work and utilizing knowledge and experience in the horizontal and vertical construction industry, electrical and mechanical fields, and industrial equipment.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalency
  • Minimum of five (5) years as a journeyman or lead in a construction-related field (carpentry, masonry, roofing, mechanical, plumbing, electrical) or equivalent experience
  • Proven planning and problem-solving skills
  • Understanding of energy reduction measures
  • Working knowledge of HVAC, plumbing, pipefitting, painting, electrical, industrial equipment, roofing, concrete, carpentry, and general construction procedures and methods
  • Knowledge of industry codes and standards
  • Ability to accurately read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and related contract documents
  • Knowledge of generally accepted standards of workmanship in construction/ maintenance of facilities, HVAC, industrial processes, and infrastructure systems
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office programs (Word/Excel/Outlook), MS Project, and other computer software applications
  • Current state driver’s license, acceptable driving record, proof of valid insurance.

Responsibilities

  • Directly responsible for overseeing the quality of construction of assigned projects.
  • Provide support and input to the project manager/engineers/customer (government).
  • Serves as the government’s project quality assurance representative, responsible for monitoring the construction contractor’s quality control, inspection, and safety programs.
  • Reviews and recommends approval of contractor progress schedules and reports.
  • Receives and coordinates reviews of contractor’s submittals, shop drawings, and Requests for Information (RFIs).
  • Performs project site visits as required by the contract Performance Work Statement (PWS), maintains accurate inspection logs of the projects through detailed notes and pictures, and performs secondary surveillance on SRM projects managed by the US Army Corps of Engineers.
  • Maintains/updates construction project files throughout the life of the contract.
  • Observes work site, construction practices, and activities to ensure compliance with the project’s contract documents as well as applicable health, safety, and environmental requirements.
  • Assists the Utilities Outage Coordinator and Construction Contractor in the development of workable outage plans, and monitors outages through completion to ensure utilities and/or systems have been returned to full operation
  • Participates in pre-bid site visits, pre-construction conferences, regular progress meetings, and other meetings related to assigned projects.
  • Works in conjunction with the construction contractor and the Contracting Officer to resolve issues in the field
  • Ensures the construction contractor schedules and executes proper 3-phase, Pre-final, and Final Inspections.
  • Ensures that all necessary project documents required for project closeout are submitted and coordinates review and approval as necessary.
  • Evaluate contractor performance by completing the DD2626 prior to project closeout.
  • Determines if issues relating to materials/equipment/workmanship discovered by customers after acceptance of the project (BOD) fall within the construction warranty.
  • Provide regular updates on construction progress to supervisors, project manager, customers, contracting officer, and users as required by the PWS.
  • Recommends changes in standards, administrative procedures, facilities, methods, and practices, and provides technical support to supervisors, Base Civil Engineering, and the contracting officer.
  • Utilizes and interprets technical manuals, shop directives, blueprints, sketches, diagrams, specifications, and verbal and written instructions.
  • Operates motor vehicles per company policy.
  • Complies with applicable federal, state, United States Air Force (USAF), and OSHA environmental laws and regulations.
  • Follows Tehama, LLC furnished information directives, policies and procedures, and contract requirements.
  • Complies with health and safety rules and procedures; performs work in a manner that enhances the safety of the work environment.
  • Will wear necessary and appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
