About The Position

The Construction Inspector at Mott MacDonald will be responsible for providing oversight on construction projects, ensuring compliance with contract documents, plans, and specifications. This role involves detailed documentation of construction activities, coordination with project engineers and contractors, and maintaining safety standards on-site. The position is based in Freehold, NJ, and requires a strong understanding of construction practices and effective communication skills.

Requirements

• 5+ years of active construction inspection experience required.
• Understanding of contract documents, plans, and specifications.
• Ability to effectively communicate with project construction personnel and contractors.
• Comprehension of shop drawings, material specifications, mechanical operations, and basic electrical and process control knowledge.
• Knowledge of construction products, materials, and equipment, as well as construction inspection and management practices and techniques.
• Knowledge of safety regulations in construction.
• Experience working with GPS and data collection computers.
• NICET Level 3 or above experience preferred.
• South New Jersey Municipality construction experience preferred.
• High School Diploma or GED required.

Responsibilities

• Observing construction to identify and document work performed in accordance with approved contract documents, plans, and specifications.
• Performing full-time observation of construction activities and supporting the documentation process.
• Preparing detailed electronic Daily Reports to record daily activities for project needs.
• Providing site support for on-site engineering subcontractors.
• Acting responsibly and safely, observing actions by others for unsafe practices.
• Recognizing contractual changes and documenting any potential project issues.
• Preparing construction quantities and pay item schedules.
• Monitoring all on-site activities and representing Mott MacDonald and the client professionally.
• Interfacing with the public and client representatives courteously and professionally.
• Driving for business purposes as required.
