About The Position

Gedeon GRC Consulting is seeking a Construction Inspector responsible for ensuring that all construction operations meet applicable standards and specifications. This role focuses on quality assurance of construction methods and materials used by contractors and subcontractors, ensuring compliance with project specifications and good construction practices.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree (B.S. or B.A.) in Engineering or Construction Management.
  • Minimum of three years of experience in construction inspection and management on infrastructure projects, or a high school diploma with ten years of experience.
  • ASCE Grade II or NICET Grade III certification required.
  • Strong knowledge of construction industry standards and procedures, particularly in New York.
  • Proficiency in Site Manager, AutoCAD, and project management software.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office.

  • Ability to establish and maintain satisfactory working relationships with associates, contractors, and the public.

Responsibilities

  • Participate in meetings and respond to inquiries concerning inspections on the project.
  • Prepare reports on project status, problems encountered, and overall results.
  • Check grades, backfill components, and other features of construction to ensure adherence to project specifications.
  • Report complaints regarding grading, dust control, drainage, accidents, and unsafe conditions, and advise Resident Engineers on resolutions.
  • Review relevant specifications, standards, and Infrastructure's Standard Construction Operation Procedures (SCOP's).
  • Inspect materials prior to installation and verify appropriate certifications and lab reports.
  • Ensure workmanship and installed work conform to plans and applicable specifications, standards, SCOP's, and shop drawings.
  • Perform material sampling and required testing.
  • Direct contractors to rectify non-compliance issues regarding safety and site maintenance.
  • Maintain daily records of work performed, including location, workforce, equipment, materials, and measurements.
  • Record accidents, property damage, unusual conditions, and utility interferences.
  • Maintain pile-driving records.
  • Report potential conditions that may lead to extra work or impact the community.
