About The Position

Becht Engineering BT, Inc. is an employee-owned company that supports our Building Technologies clientele by providing mechanical, electrical, plumbing, fire protection (MEP&FP) and structural engineering, insurance/forensics investigations, project management and construction management services. Our engineering staff includes multi-disciplined licensed professionals, as well as LEED Accredited Professionals, Certified Energy Auditors and Certified Energy Managers. Our Project Management and construction management staff is comprised of licensed building inspectors, mechanical inspectors, certified building plan examiners, Registered Roofing/Exterior Wall Observers, and Reserve Specialists certified by the Community Association Institute. Performs construction oversight and project management of our client's engineering and construction projects as well as surveys and inspections of buildings and related systems to document systems, elements and/or components. Work involves construction management of all types of building structures including residential complexes, condominiums and homeowner associations, commercial, educational, and industrial facilities. Project management work may include assistance with coordination of design activities from initial conception through project completion. Scope may include assistance with preparation of bid documents, contractor evaluations and oversight of contractors during work. Reserve studies include field observation and quantification of items, and inputting data/information into proprietary software. Employee must exercise considerable tact, courtesy, and firmness in dealing with contractors, owners and the general public.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's/Associate's degree preferred, or commensurate construction experience.
  • High School graduate at a minimum.
  • Residential and/or commercial building inspection experience preferred.
  • Must be dependable, self-motivated and work well under supervision.
  • Ability to work independently and with others as part of a team.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills including strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Valid US Driver's License.

Responsibilities

  • Performs construction oversight and project management of engineering and construction projects.
  • Conducts surveys and inspections of buildings and related systems.
  • Assists with preparation of bid documents and contractor evaluations.
  • Performs construction and worksite inspections.
  • Prepares reports of inspection findings including photographs.
  • Attends/Participates in industry marketing events to develop relationships with prospective clients.
  • Stores all project related documents and correspondence within prescribed project folder/server locations.
  • Performs other job duties as assigned.
