About The Position

A Construction Inspection Supervisor job is available with The City of Fort Worth in The Transportation & Public Works Department, Capital Delivery’s Construction Services Section. This position will supervise, review, and oversee construction projects involving utility, storm drainage, concrete, and asphalt paving for conformance with plans, specifications, and contracts. The candidate should be a responsible, dependable, and extremely detail-oriented individual who is willing to learn.

Requirements

  • Associate Degree in Construction Science, Construction Management, Engineering, Engineering Technology, Architecture or related field
  • Four (4) years of public works construction inspection experience, including one (1) year of administrative or lead supervisory responsibility
  • Valid driver’s license

  • Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, Teams, and PowerPoint skills
  • Experience with water and sanitary sewer utility, franchise utilities, storm drainage, concrete, and asphalt street paving
  • Experience working with Headlight, Accela, BIM360, e-Builder, GIS, Adobe Acrobat / Adobe Sign, Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook skills

Responsibilities

  • Supervise construction inspection staff, including work assignment, performance evaluations, training, mentoring, hiring recommendations, discipline, and enforcement of policies, procedures, and safety requirements
  • Train and mentor Construction Inspectors to support skill development, quality performance, and career progression
  • Plan, schedule, and oversee construction inspection services; identify staffing and resource needs; and ensure compliance with specifications, standards, codes, ordinances, and regulations
  • Review project plans, specifications, schedules, quantities, and working days; identify errors, omissions, risks, and conflicts; and coordinate timely resolution and mitigation strategies
  • Inspect construction work and materials for quality assurance and quality control; review inspector logs; monitor warranty-period projects; and ensure deficiencies are corrected prior to closeout
  • Review, evaluate, and process construction change orders, including verification of quantities and cost estimates against current market conditions
  • Serve as liaison between contractors, design professionals, utility providers, regulatory agencies, City departments, and the general public; attend meetings; interpret design intent; and ensure compliance with City and industry standards
  • Schedule and attend pre-construction meetings and final inspections; ensure all required documentation, including green sheets and project acceptance, is completed accurately and on time
  • Maintain accurate project records, inspection files, GIS updates, daily project status tracking, and reports for active, paused, and completed projects in accordance with City retention policies
  • Respond promptly to customer complaints and after-hours project safety issues; provide timely follow-up communication; and recommend improvements to inspection procedures, standards, and workflows
