About The Position

Kitsap County is seeking a Construction Inspector to join our residential construction plan review and inspection team within the Department of Community Development (DCD). This position is an exciting opportunity for individuals interested in contributing to the Building Plan Review and Inspection team, which operates under the Building and Fire Safety Division. The department is committed to enabling and assisting Kitsap residents in building quality, affordable, and environmentally safe developments. The Construction Inspector role may be filled at various levels, including Technician, Construction Inspector 1, or Construction Inspector 2, depending on the qualifications of the candidate. The department offers development and training through an approved automatic progression process, allowing employees hired as a Technician or Inspector 1 to automatically promote to Construction Inspector 2 after meeting the necessary progression requirements. The ideal candidate will have at least three years of experience in residential construction plan review and/or inspection for a government agency with code enforcement authority. Additionally, candidates should possess current International Code Council (ICC) certifications as a Residential Building Inspector and Residential Plans Examiner. As a Construction Technician, the employee will develop skills in on-site inspection and plans review assignments to support residential construction permit applications and projects. The Construction Inspector 1 will perform basic plan review and inspection work, respond to inquiries, and maintain records. The Construction Inspector 2 will perform journey-level plan review and inspection work, authorize permits, coordinate with DCD staff, and conduct code research as needed. This position will be posted continuously until filled, with the first screening taking place the week of April 15th and interviews tentatively scheduled for the week of April 22nd.
