Pennoni Associates is a multidisciplinary consulting engineering firm with over five decades of experience in addressing engineering challenges from various perspectives. We are currently seeking Construction Inspectors to join our team on either a Full-Time or Part-Time basis. This position is open to inspectors located in South and Central New Jersey, Southeastern Pennsylvania, and Northern Delaware. The role involves working in the field at construction sites as a quality assurance representative, where you will be responsible for inspecting construction work and performing construction materials testing. As a Construction Inspector, you will monitor compliance with project drawings and specifications, focusing on areas such as reinforced concrete, masonry, structural steel, spray applied proofing, soils, and foundation construction. You will also perform field testing of materials including plastic concrete, grout, mortar, block, fireproofing, soils, and nondestructive testing of welds. The ability to read and interpret drawings and specifications is crucial, as you will be required to write reports, create sketches, and effectively communicate and coordinate with engineers, contractors, and clients. We are looking for candidates with a High School Diploma and 1 to 3 years of related experience. Preferred certifications include ICC (Concrete, Masonry, Fireproofing, Soils and/or Deep Foundations), ACI-G1, or NJDCA. A Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or a related field with EIT is also desirable. Candidates should possess computer skills, particularly in Windows-based software and the Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel, Word, and Outlook. Ideal candidates will be willing to perform physical work in the field, demonstrate honesty and dependability, and possess the ability to work both independently and as part of a team. Good written and verbal communication skills are essential, as is the ability to work at heights for steel and welding inspections. The role may require working construction hours, including overtime, and reliable transportation is necessary.
