About The Position

Michael Baker International is proud to partner with the Department of Defense SkillBridge program to offer transitioning service members an opportunity to gain hands-on experience and industry knowledge in construction inspection. This internship provides structured training and mentorship designed to prepare participants for careers in civil, transportation, municipal, and airport construction projects. Participants will engage in a comprehensive training curriculum that includes: Orientation & Foundations: Inspector role, safety principles, surveying basics Codes, Standards & Documentation: Plan/spec reading, electronic reporting, constructability review Safety & Quality Control: QA/QC fundamentals, work zone traffic control, material testing basics Field Shadowing & Mentorship: Observing inspections, surveying, and communication with stakeholders Supervised On-the-Job Experience: Performing inspections, reporting, and quantity tracking under guidance Professional Transition & Capstone: Employment readiness and certification pathways Instructional Methods: Online learning modules Hands-on field training and mentorship This program is open to active-duty service members approved for participation in the DoD SkillBridge program . Candidates should have an interest in construction, civil engineering, or related fields and a desire to transition into a civilian career in infrastructure development.
