The County of Riverside's Facilities Management Department has an opportunity for a Construction Inspector I/II located in Riverside. The selected candidate will provide continuous on-site technical inspections of various County administered structures and remodeling projects during the construction, alterations, and repair phase. This includes coordinating with project managers, contractors, architects and engineers to ensure the construction, equipment installation, and repair complies with and adheres to quality control specifications, engineering designs, structural plans and all applicable State and local building codes and regulations. In addition, the candidate will sample construction materials for testing, write daily field reports summarizing construction activity, review and analyze cost estimates for proposed County projects, and make recommendations regarding scheduling of construction projects. The Construction Inspector I is the entry level class in the Construction Inspector series within the Facilities Management Department. This class is a natural progression underfill for the class of Construction Inspector II. Incumbents are eligible to promote to Construction Inspector II after receiving a satisfactory performance evaluation and meeting the education and experience requirements. Failure to meet the requirements to promote will result in incumbents either being returned to their former county job classification or new hires being released prior to the end of their initial probationary period. The Construction Inspector II is the full journey level class in the Construction Inspector series within the Design and Construction Division of the Facilities Management Department. This class reports to the Supervising Construction Inspector and receives technical and lead direction from a Senior Construction Inspector in assigned responsibility for ensuring that contracted construction, repairs, or alterations of County buildings and facilities adhere and comply to specifications, laws, and contract. The level at which the position will be filled is at the Department's discretion and is based on candidate qualifications.
