About The Position

The Construction/HMA Quality Control Technician position at Idaho Materials & Construction involves performing and recording quality control tests on concrete and aggregate products. The role requires a solid understanding of materials and the ability to interact with customers to resolve quality issues. The technician will work in both plant and lab environments, ensuring that products meet specified quality standards.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED preferred.
  • One to two years of prior QC experience preferred.
  • ACI Level 1 Certification is helpful.
  • WAQTC Certification is beneficial.
  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions and correspondence.
  • Ability to write simple correspondence and perform basic mathematical calculations.
  • Ability to present information effectively in one-on-one and small group situations.
  • Ability to work well with others in a group or one-on-one setting.
  • Must have a current and valid driver's license with a good driving record.

Nice To Haves

  • CDL not required but helpful.
  • Knowledge of database software.

Responsibilities

  • Test concrete and aggregate products for quality and conformance to specifications.
  • Maintain basic material record keeping for rock, sand, cement, flyash, and chemical admixtures.
  • Follow verbal and written instructions accurately.
  • Communicate effectively with dispatch, batch plant operations, drivers, and QC personnel.
  • Work flexible shifts including nights, swings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
  • Make quick and effective decisions regarding quality control issues.
  • Complete the MSHA Safety course as required.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
