About The Position

The individual selected for this position will assist with ongoing land and facilities management responsibilities for the College of Agriculture, including (but not limited to) construction duties, planning and completing projects, and operating heavy equipment and machinery.

Requirements

  • Level I: High school diploma or equivalent
  • Level II: High school diploma or equivalent plus 4 years of experience in operating heavy machinery and/or construction practices.
  • Class A CDL or the ability to obtain one within a year of employment

  • Current class A CDL
  • Knowledge/experience within essential functions

Responsibilities

  • Operates heavy equipment such as tractors, backhoes, bulldozers, excavators, trenchers, forklifts, etc. used for various construction projects on university property and may also drive semi-trucks.
  • Excavates, grades, and resurfaces fields and surfaces at various job sites.
  • Builds/renovates structures and support structures to include ponds, greenhouses, pole barns, and other buildings.
  • Assists in the planning and estimating of department construction projects.
  • May perform welding and plumbing functions in support of local facilities. Loads and transports materials from one location to another.
  • May be occasionally required to travel for out of town and/or overnight work.
  • May apply various pesticides to plants, shrubs, and trees.
  • Repairs and maintains equipment and vehicles ensuring that they are in proper working condition.
