About The Position

Ulland Brothers, Inc. is seeking a dedicated and safety-conscious Construction Heavy Equipment Operator to join our team in Albert Lea, Minnesota. This full-time position is expected to commence around mid-April and continue through November, with the possibility of extending beyond this period. As a union position under Operating Engineer #49, the role involves operating various types of heavy construction equipment in a variety of environments and conditions. The successful candidate will be responsible for excavating, moving, and placing dirt or materials during construction projects, ensuring that all operations are conducted safely and efficiently. The operator will be required to operate equipment such as rubber-tired backhoes, loaders, rollers, graders, and excavators. This role demands a strong understanding of the equipment's operation and maintenance, including the ability to adjust handwheels, depress pedals, and control attachments like blades and buckets. The operator must also perform routine maintenance tasks, such as cleaning, greasing, and oiling the machines, to ensure they remain in optimal working condition. Additionally, the ability to read and understand blueprints is essential for executing tasks accurately. This position is classified as safety-sensitive, requiring adherence to strict safety protocols and the ability to judge distances and slopes accurately. The work environment will vary, requiring the operator to work both indoors and outdoors in all weather conditions. The role involves medium-duty physical demands, including lifting, climbing, and repetitive motions, necessitating good eyesight and coordination. Regular attendance is crucial, and the operator must conform to the company's operating hours. A drug test is required for this position, reflecting our commitment to maintaining a safe workplace.
