About The Position

Do you have a sharp eye for detail and love being in the field where the real work happens? Norfolk Companies is seeking a Field Technician to join our fast-paced Multifamily Construction Division. This role will work within the Boston Metro area. This is the perfect role for someone who wants to be everywhere at once—measuring, verifying, coordinating, and ensuring that every kitchen and bathroom installation goes off without a hitch. Why This Role Matters You'll be the critical link - before a single cabinet is ordered or countertop is fabricated, you'll be there capturing the exact dimensions and conditions that make or break a project. Your measurements prevent costly errors. Your field insights keep projects moving. Your coordination keeps everyone—from sales to installation—on the same page. Be the Eyes in the Field & Support Project Success - What you'll be doing: Perform on-site field visits to capture precise measurements for kitchen and bathroom cabinetry and countertops Act as the field verification specialist who catches layout issues before they become expensive problems Walk multiple job sites daily across multifamily properties, coordinating with property managers and maintenance teams Review field dimensions against approved drawings and flag discrepancies immediately Serve as the main point of contact for countertop and cabinet field verification Coordinate seamlessly between sales, project management, fabrication, and installation teams Capture detailed field documentation: photos from multiple angles, daily logs, existing conditions, and customer comments Submit all measurements and documentation to sales or project management within 24 hours Log hours, site notes, and images in Buildertrend to keep everyone informed Identify customer-driven changes and initiate the change order process before work proceeds Complete minor punch list items including doors, drawers, trim, hardware, and surface touch-ups Ensure final confirmation process is complete before handing off for ordering Maintain professional presence and safety protocols on all job sites

Requirements

  • 4+ years of construction field experience
  • Strong knowledge of kitchen cabinets, countertops, and multifamily construction
  • Ability to measure accurately to 1/16th inch—precision is everything
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office, QuickBooks, and Buildertrend
  • Self-directed professional who can juggle multiple projects and shift priorities
  • Excellent communicator who keeps teams informed and aligned
  • Customer service orientation with strong problem-solving skills
  • Detail-obsessed individual who understands that small measurements make big differences
  • Valid driver's license and clean driving record required
  • Comfortable walking multifamily buildings and apartment units daily
  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods
  • Ablet to bend, stoop, knee to gather accurate measurements
  • Able to view, edit small text on computer and mobile devices
  • Occasional lifting, climbing, and working on uneven surfaces
  • Mobile and ready to visit multiple sites independently
  • Valid driver's license and clear RMV required

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with design software (2020, AutoCAD, SketchUp) preferred
