About The Position

The Construction Field Coordinator applies in-depth knowledge of construction practices and UA standards to enforce construction schedules, quality control, and other construction contract requirements for projects from design through project completion. Additional Department Summary: Participates in the project design phase to identify constructability and scheduling issues with the aim of providing the best value to the University that minimizes disruptions to campus. Reviews plans and specifications to ensure current UA constructability standards are met, including items such as project-specific staffing requirements and any necessary milestone dates. Participates in applicable project meetings throughout the project life cycle for coordination with various internal and external stakeholders and partners. Evaluates initial contractor schedules and subsequent updates for compliance with contract requirements, general construction logic, potential conflicts, activities, and/or deliveries. Verifies accuracy of in-place construction as shown on updates and evaluates contractor proposals of remedial actions. Monitors and prepares observation reports on progress of work. Ensures that the projects are executed per contract documents by performing routine site inspections and monitoring for quality assurance and schedule adherence. Works proactively with the UA Construction Project Manager to expedite solutions to construction conflicts and mitigate any negative impacts. Documents and reports on project site conditions and overall status. Supports the UA Construction Project Manager with the analysis of change order requests, pay requests, and other field issues by providing project site documentation and knowledge. Monitors contractor activity including labor, equipment usage, and material installed as applicable for Time and Material change requests.

Requirements

  • Master's degree and some construction, engineering, and/or project management experience; OR bachelor's degree and two (2) years of construction, engineering, and/or project management experience; OR associate's degree and four (4) years of construction, engineering, and/or project management experience; OR high school diploma or GED and six (6) years of construction, engineering, and/or project management experience.
  • Must have valid U.S. driver's license.
  • Must be at least 19 years of age at time of hire and have an acceptable Motor Vehicle Report that is in compliance with University policies. Applicants under the age of 21 will have some driving restrictions.
  • Final candidates must submit to and successfully pass a post-offer drug screen.
  • Strong leadership, problem solving, and communication skills.
  • Thorough understanding of construction processes.
  • Proficiency in construction management and scheduling software.
  • Knowledge of safety regulations and best practices.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering.
  • Quality Control Inspector (QCI) certified.
  • Incident Command System certified.
  • Experience working in construction for a college or university.
  • Experience in Critical Path Method scheduling.
  • Experience performing inspections of mechanical, electrical, and/or plumbing systems.
