We're hiring a Construction Estimator to join our estimating team and play a meaningful role in how we pursue and win work. You'll be mentored by senior estimators and project managers, gain hands-on experience across a variety of highway and infrastructure project types, and develop skills that will serve your career for years to come. What Your Day-to-Day Looks Like No two bid cycles are exactly alike, and that's part of what makes this role exciting. Here's what you can expect to be working on: Reviewing project plans, specifications, and bid documents - primarily for our Fence & Cable Barrier division, with exposure to Guardrail, Traffic Control, Sign Installation, and Drilled Shaft Foundations Performing quantity takeoffs and contributing to detailed, accurate cost estimates Preparing and distributing Invitations to Bid (ITBs) to subcontractors and suppliers, and following up to make sure we have strong coverage Helping put together scope sheets and bid summaries Rolling up your sleeves on bid day - compiling and reviewing proposals before they go out the door Attending pre-bid meetings and site walks to get eyes on the work firsthand Keeping bid files organized and well-documented throughout the process Supporting smooth project handoffs to the project management team when we win work Collaborating with leadership to find ways to sharpen our estimating process over time What We're Looking For We care more about finding the right person than checking every box. Here's what will set you up for success in this role: An Associate's degree in Construction Management, Project Management, or Building Construction is preferred - but we know great estimators come from a variety of paths Valid Driver's license required, must be insurable under the company's vehicle insurance policy, as regular travel is an essential function of the role. Anywhere from 0–5 years of experience in a construction environment, whether as a junior estimator, coordinator, assistant, or technician - highway construction experience is a definite plus Familiarity with construction operations and highway or fence construction principles is preferred We're open to candidates who bring a strong combination of hands-on experience and education, even if it doesn't follow a traditional route At Action Traffic's discretion, may consider an alternative combination of formal education and work experience. Requirements
