Requirements

  • Outstanding knowledge of overall CSI divisions and bidding scenarios.
  • Deep knowledge of commercial construction materials and methods
  • Strong management, interpersonal, organizational, and analytical skills
  • Ability to perform difficult and complex estimating activities typical to the engineering and construction industry
  • Ability to work with engineering drawings and specifications
  • Ability to look at any construction project and break down the entire project into the required individual components and scopes
  • Team first mindset, a good team player, self-motivated, gets along well with supervisors, peers, and subordinates, 100% ownership mentality.

Responsibilities

  • Develop accurate and timely construction estimates.
  • Analyze and interpret detailed drawings and specifications.
  • Must be comfortable talking on the phone. This position will spend appx. 50-60% of its time on the phone talking to subcontractors and vendors
  • Build relationships with local subcontractors.
  • Work under deadline pressures in an efficient, composed, and calm manner.
  • Support on change-orders and cost-to-complete estimates of on-going projects.
  • Help generate and communicate company standards for estimating design/build and plans and specs work.
  • Perform job handoffs from estimating to operations through clearly demonstrating detailed scopes of work, specifications, and job specific conditions.
  • Determine and price value-engineered alternatives to plans and specifications.
  • Perform budget pricing from schematic drawings and narrative.
  • Draft scope letters, proposals, and vendor solicitations.
  • Attend job walks; pre-bid meetings; collaborations and conferences with clients and design professionals.
  • Must be able to prepare complete itemized estimates in support of negotiated opportunities for commercial clients
  • Must be able to present via zoom, PowerPoint, or in person each project for review by owner and/or client.
  • Deals with owners and contractors to resolve technical and/or value engineering matters during the negotiation and contract execution
  • Analyze contractual documents and contract modifications to determine the scope of work and scope changes
  • Prepares estimate from excel, take offs, and bid scope summaries to ensures timely completion.
  • Reviews bid opportunities and outline the pros and cons of going after each project for a go/no-go decision
  • Reviews bid opportunity documents (RFP, Plans, and Specs) to identify critical trades where market bids are needed to bid on the project
  • Assist with the development of estimating procedures and guidelines
