A DAY IN THE LIFE OF A CONSTRUCTION ESTIMATOR I As a Construction Estimator, you play a critical role in preparing and organizing financial data for all stages of a project. You consult with clients, vendors, and your colleagues on the sales and estimating teams to formulate accurate and comprehensive estimates. Using your analytical thinking, you manage multiple stages of the bidding process, including prequalifying potential bidding opportunities, preparing takeoffs, putting together bids, reviewing contracts, and making adjustments to estimates. You are also involved in the project management process by assisting with the preparation of contracts, shop drawings, submittals, and close-out documents. You are the bridge between many aspects of our projects, and you enjoy coordinating with your team and our clients. Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Knowledge of construction business and/or estimating knowledge with 1 year of experience is preferred.
  • Must have strong knowledge of building science and construction processes.
  • Must have strong math and analytical skills, as well as an eye for detail.
  • Must be able to read and understand blueprints.
  • Experience with cost analysis helpful.
  • Must have a thorough understanding of computers, especially word processing and spreadsheet programs.
  • Must be comfortable sending, receiving, and attaching drawing files using e-mail or file transfer programs.
