About The Position

As an Estimator for Piedmont Concrete Contractors, you will provide accurate quantity take-offs, job analysis, and pricing as necessary to produce successful job estimates for company bids and negotiations. You will prepare all bid documents necessary to obtain vendor and subcontractor pricing for various scopes of work included in bid packages. Additionally, you will prepare and maintain the company estimate log, and track status of bids and competitor's bids to evaluate market conditions and bid strategies. Your role will also involve preparing and maintaining historical cost data for evaluation of company labor production and recommending necessary adjustments for profitability and competitive advantages. You will use sound judgment regarding market conditions, time to complete, material and equipment expenses, trade contractor capabilities, and risk management measures. Collaboration with internal and external project teams to build productive and enduring relationships is essential. You will manage and resolve unexpected challenges with a resourceful, problem-solving mindset and the highest level of professionalism. Leveraging technology systems to provide a unique client experience is also a key aspect of this role. Furthermore, you will ensure adherence to our Safety for Life culture by exhibiting a strong safety focus; belief that the safety and health of all employees is not just about compliance, but about ensuring that everyone makes it home safely every day. You will communicate the message of the Company Safety for Life Mission, Vision and Values to coworkers and trade partners.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or construction management or equivalent training/experience in Construction Estimating.
  • At least 5 years preconstruction and estimating experience for $10M+ commercial concrete projects.
  • Successful completion of classes or training in cost estimating, cost modeling, and cost engineering.
  • Solid technical knowledge of building construction means, methods, and systems.
  • Ability to read, understand, and interpret building plans and project specifications.
  • Field experience in addition to estimating experience preferred.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Collaborative communication skills, including emotional awareness and active listening.
  • Proficient with Office 365 and tools such as Procore and OnCenter Software.
  • Ability to maintain a positive attitude and perform well under project constraints.
  • Demonstrate a learning orientation and willingness to pursue educational opportunities.
  • Commitment to a strong safety culture and knowledge to identify safety hazards.
