About The Position
The Heavy Equipment Technician position is a full-time role based in Saint Rose, LA, requiring a skilled technician with formal training and a minimum of three years of related experience. The technician will perform work both offsite at customer locations and in the shop, focusing on diagnosing and repairing heavy construction equipment such as excavators, bulldozers, and wheel loaders. The pay rate for this position is dependent on the candidate's experience and skill level. In this role, the technician will be responsible for removing and replacing mechanical or electrical components, which includes engines, crawler tracks, and attachments. The technician will operate diagnostic equipment to test machinery, which may require climbing into operator compartments. Reading schematics is essential for diagnosing issues and performing repairs effectively. The technician will utilize both manual and automated tools in the repair process and will be expected to operate company equipment and vehicles as needed. The job involves physical demands such as lifting, carrying, and positioning components, as well as using overhead cranes in the shop or electric truck-mounted cranes in the field. The technician will also use welding machines and air compressors as part of their duties. The work environment varies, including the CLM service shop, outdoor yard at CLM facilities, and occasionally at customer job sites. Effective communication with customers and co-workers is crucial, along with maintaining a clean work area. The role requires extensive climbing, bending, and lifting, particularly when repairing certain types of equipment. Additionally, the technician will perform routine service and minor repairs on CLM shop equipment and service vehicles.
