About The Position

SoLa Impact is seeking a highly dedicated Construction Engineering Intern to assist alongside SoLa's high-achieving team. In this internship role you will support the day-to-day tasks of SoLa Impact's Construction Department, while also gaining knowledge of the fundamental aspects of the construction industry. 🌟 The Details 🌟 Duration: COHORT 1: June 1st-August 20th COHORT 2: June 22nd - September 17th Location: The Beehive, 961 E. 61st Street, Los Angeles, CA 90001 Compensation: $20-$24 per hour Schedule: 9:00AM-5:00PM, M-F ABOUT THE COMPANY SoLa Impact is an award-winning social impact, development, and investment company focused exclusively on creating high-quality affordable housing. Requirements

  • Must currently be enrolled in Construction Management, Engineering, Construction, Civil Engineering, or Mechanical Engineering degree program
  • Must have a valid driver’s license and reliable transportation to commute to and from their work location, between facilities and job sites when necessary
  • Proficient skills in Microsoft Office, Yardi knowledge a plus
  • Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to read and understand construction drawings and specifications
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment
  • Ability to follow direction and manage specific tasks to completion
  • Ability to learn and adapt to computer based programs and databases
  • Eagerness to learn and positive attitude
  • Knowledge of the construction industry preferred

Responsibilities

  • Support the construction team in the planning and design of affordable housing projects
  • Conduct research on building materials, construction methods, and energy-efficient design practices to support sustainable building practices
  • Monitor and document construction work in progress
  • Assist with the preparation of project reports and documentation
  • Maintain and update Key Performance Indicators for Engineering & Construction
  • Attend pre-construction meetings and participate in discussions about construction schedules, materials, and project phasing
  • Review construction drawings and specifications to ensure accuracy and completeness
