About The Position

Construction Engineer Westwood Professional Services, Inc. Westwood Professional Services, Inc. is seeking a Construction Engineer to join our Transportation Engineering team in Appleton, WI. Westwood has a highly experienced and dynamic team of individuals dedicated to providing high-level professional services to our clients. Our ideal candidate will have 3+ years of diverse experience in transportation and construction. Candidates must have a willingness to perform a variety of tasks supporting various project types and project managers.

Requirements

Knowledge of construction techniques, estimating, and scheduling.
Outgoing, friendly, approachable.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.
Detail-oriented with an ability to contribute to a positive work environment.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Willingness to travel to the job site on a daily basis.
Willingness to work outside on construction sites in varying conditions.
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret plans and specifications.
Ability to calculate project quantities accurately.

Nice To Haves

3+ years of experience in the municipal, transportation, or construction-related industry
Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
Ability to obtain required HTCP certifications
Knowledge of WisDOT construction policies
Proficient in AutoCAD Civil 3D

Responsibilities

Provide on-site representation for a variety of transportation or municipal projects, supporting tasks such as project documentation, material testing, and survey coordination.
Assist with field observations on a variety of construction projects to ensure compliance with the contract documents.
Monitor contractor activities on-site.
Maintain daily records of work, including entering quantities into the required recordkeeping system.
Coordinate with engineers, contractors, landowners, utility companies, public agencies, and clients regarding project progress and issues.
Monitor contractor schedules and construction progress.
Prepare record drawings.
Perform field reviews and other assessments for use in design.
Assist the project team in the preparation of plans, specifications, and cost estimates for projects of various size and complexity.
Prepare engineering reports, feasibility studies, and utility evaluations.
Prepare detailed various exhibits and design drawings using AutoCAD Civil 3D.
Produce high-quality work and implement and maintain quality assurance procedures.
