About The Position

Flexible Work Arrangement: Hybrid The Interconnection Construction Management department coordinates and facilitates the interconnection of new generation, the installation of network upgrades, and construction of merchant transmission projects to the PJM system to ensure the long-term reliability and resource adequacy of the PJM system. The department coordinates with the Transmission Owners, and the project developers, the management and engineering of all transmission expansion related activities associated with the interconnection of new generation resources.

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or at least 5 years of equivalent, applicable work experience
• At least 5 years of experience with major substation and transmission line construction and maintenance, or in power-generation operations, construction, and maintenance.
• Ability to produce high-quality work products with attention to detail
• Experience in quantitative and qualitative analysis
• Ability to use mathematical and electrical theory
• Ability to troubleshoot and provide technical support

Nice To Haves

• Experience with PJM operations, markets, and planning functions
• Experience using PSS/e (power system analysis program)

Responsibilities

• Serve as a liaison and develop required external interfaces between PJM and the key stakeholders (i.e. Transmission Owners, generation and project developers, and other entities) regarding design and scheduling of new connections across the PJM footprint.
• Cultivate and sustain strong, strategic partnerships with stakeholders, managing negotiations to achieve favorable outcomes and support long-term collaboration
• Develop and coordinate work plans for generation and transmission system reinforcement projects involving multiple customer needs across multiple Transmission Owner systems.
• Perform project management functions related to establishing time lines, achievement of milestones, and critical path tasks from engineering design to management of the various interconnection agreements.
• Proactively work with other members of the applicable PJM departments, and divisions, to coordinate system reinforcement requirements.
• Coordinate, develop, issue and maintain interconnection studies and agreements related to generation and merchant transmission projects.
• Monitor and assess existing project-management practices, and drive the adoption of improved methods and emerging progress-monitoring technologies within construction activities.
• Develop and implement tactical plans that support and advance the division’s and department’s strategic direction.
