We are seeking a Construction Engineer to join our Construction Administration Services team. This role involves managing construction contract administration for roadway, airport, and other heavy civil projects. You'll ensure compliance with federal funding requirements and verify that all work meets contract plans and specifications. Under the direction of the Construction Administration Services Department Manager, you'll lead onsite inspection and testing staff while managing construction activities. Projects are primarily located in Southcentral Alaska, but future assignments may take you to other regions across the state. Expect a dynamic workload, long hours, and night shifts during Alaska's construction season-this is the perfect role for someone who thrives in a fast-paced, hands-on environment.

  • Administer construction contracts and verify that completed work aligns with plans, specifications, and contract documents.
  • Review submittals, work plans, pay estimates, schedules, and related items.
  • Evaluate work for conformance to contract requirements.
  • Apply engineering principles, methods, and knowledge during project execution.
  • Supervise and coordinate the efforts of project staff.
  • Plan work schedules and staff assignments to meet project timelines.
  • Interact professionally with clients, contractors, and the public.
  • Manage contract changes and resolve issues using critical thinking skills.
  • Coordinate materials testing for acceptance and review test results.
  • Travel throughout Alaska and work onsite with project teams.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, architecture, or land surveying.
  • Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
  • At least six years of experience in construction contract administration and inspection.
  • Experience as a project, construction, or resident engineer on federally funded highway, bridge, marine, or aviation construction projects.
  • Proficiency in word processing, spreadsheet, and data entry software.
  • Strong attention to detail and excellent communication skills.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with project stakeholders.
  • Critical thinking skills and the ability to solve complex problems.
  • Engineer-in-Training certification or professional registration.
  • Certifications in AK-CESCL, WAQTC, ATTSA Traffic Control Supervisor, or related areas.
  • Stormwater inspection experience.
  • Material testing experience.
  • Familiarity with AASHTOWare on construction projects.
