The Construction Engineer Apprenticeship program is designed to provide on-the-job training and increase knowledge and performance in regards to Construction.

  • Assist the Construction Engineer with the construction and renovation process for all the properties owned and operated by North Oaks Health System.
  • Follow departmental policy and directions required for safe work performance.
  • Study and familiarize themselves with the plans and specifications for the foundation, structural, and architectural components of the structures that comprise NOHS.
  • Build new walls made of metal studs and gypsum board.
  • Keep supply of materials on job site.
  • Installation of suspended ceiling tile.
  • Installation of vinyl floor tile.
  • Build and/or install millwork.
  • General knowledge of plastic laminate work (patch repair or new).
  • Build, patch, repair or replace any type of wooden item (furniture, cabinets, shelves, counter tops, etc.).
  • Assist fellow employees in any type of maintenance or repairs needed.
  • Maintain and help clean the shop area and tools.
  • Observe all safety regulations and practices.
  • Perform additional duties as required, as necessary and as directed.
  • Cooperate and work with fellow employees.
  • Participate in education and training programs.
  • Follow North Oaks Health System's Compliance Programs and Federal and State Regulatory guidelines.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • Certificate of completion from a technical or trade school in construction required.
  • General knowledge in commercial construction required.
  • Considerable knowledge of all tools and how to operate them for carpentry, metal, ceiling, floors, repairing of doors and assorted hardware.
  • General knowledge of principles in general commercial construction framing and finishing and use of construction tools and equipment preferred.
