About The Position

LANL's TA-55 facility has moved past the design phase and is now in active installation - and this team needs skilled engineers who can help keep work moving, resolve engineering issues, and communicate effectively across multiple install groups. As a Construction Engineer 2 embedded in the PIE Installation organization, you'll be a critical part of a 24/7 operation supporting one of the most important construction programs in the national laboratory system. This is a long-term opportunity for engineers who want to make a real impact on national security infrastructure.

Requirements

  • U.S. Citizenship and ability to obtain a DOE Q Clearance
  • Bachelor's in Engineering and 3+ years of relevant experience - or equivalent experience in lieu of degree
  • Working knowledge of construction processes, methods, and materials
  • Ability to interpret design documents, technical specifications, and engineering drawings
  • Proficiency in MS365/Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook) and MS Teams - Teams is essential
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills; must be able to work across multiple teams and leadership levels
  • Outward-focused, collaborative, and a skilled problem solver (humble, hungry, and smart)
  • 100% onsite availability - hybrid only considered in emergency situations

Nice To Haves

  • Electrical background - candidates with vast electrical experience are in high demand for this program
  • Glovebox systems experience - a significant plus
  • Manufacturing or regulated facility familiarity (DOE, DoD, Navy, pharma, oil & gas, or commercial buildings)
  • NQA-1 experience
  • Facility-based mechanical systems experience
  • Pressure testing or related field engineering certifications

Responsibilities

  • Perform field verifications and oversee construction activities for compliance with design documents and safety requirements
  • Coordinate in real-time between design, engineering, and field installation teams to resolve technical issues
  • Track material quantities, verify installation work, and prepare accurate field reports
  • Support testing, commissioning, pressure testing, and project closeout activities
  • Provide hands-on problem-solving support to construction and installation crews across multiple install groups
  • May be exposed to non-hazardous nuclear materials during assignment
  • Occasional driving on and off site; LANL vehicles available but personal vehicle or public transportation may also be used
