About The Position

MetroNational’s Construction & Development Internship provides students with a structured, paid opportunity to gain hands-on experience in how our properties are designed, built, renovated, and improved across the Memorial City portfolio. Interns spend approximately 75% of their time working directly with the Construction & Development team on meaningful, real-world projects and 25% engaging in company-wide learning opportunities, site tours, shadow days, and professional development experiences. Throughout the program, interns will collaborate with industry professionals who embody MetroNational’s core values of Trust, Integrity, Impact, and Legacy, gaining exposure to the full project lifecycle—from early design concepts and pre-construction through active construction, punch lists, and closeout. This is a competitive internship designed to give students tangible skills, portfolio-ready work, and a deeper understanding of commercial construction and development in a mixed-use urban environment.

Requirements

  • Enrollment in an accredited college or university majoring in: Construction Science / Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Architecture or Architectural Engineering, Project Management with a built-environment or engineering focus, Or another closely related field (e.g., Building Science, Structural Engineering)
  • Enrollment in or recent completion of an accredited construction, engineering, or design-focused trade/technical program, such as: Construction Technology, Drafting / CAD or BIM Technology, Construction Supervision or Field Management
  • Completion of a recognized certificate program related to construction and development, such as: Construction Project Management, Commercial Construction Fundamentals, Estimating, Scheduling, or Cost Control
  • All applicants must submit a transcript or program record, showing: Minimum 3.2 GPA for college students, Equivalent performance for trade school / certificate programs (final project score, instructor evaluation, or official pass status)
  • Must commit to full-time, on-site participation for the entire 8-week program (June 1 – July 24, 2026). Remote internships are not available.
  • Candidates unable to commit to all 8 weeks may still be considered but with lower priority in selection.
  • Strong analytical, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Demonstrated attention to detail and interest in the built environment.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with organizing drawings, documents, samples, and project files to keep information accurate and accessible.
  • Assist with gathering basic project data such as photos, measurements, or product details during site visits.
  • Support themaintenance of simple project logs, including RFIs, submittals, meeting notes, and daily progress photos.
  • Observe site walks with project managers to learn about construction activities and assist in documenting field conditions.
  • Assist with reviewing drawing revisions by comparing updated plans to previous versions and noting changes for the team.
  • Support the preparation of internal reports, weekly summaries, or presentation slides using provided project information.
  • Contribute to research tasks such as gathering material options, sustainability insights, or product specifications.
  • Assist with preparing meeting materials, organizing sample boards, assembling binders, or setting up project rooms.
  • Observe team coordination between design, construction, and property management to understand how decisions impact the overall project.
  • Contribute to small, guided assignments aligned with your skills or academic focus.
  • Assist in preparing your final presentation by documenting observations, experiences, and key learnings.
