About The Position

The Quantity Surveyor will support Construction Managers with cost management tasks across various projects at AECOM's Atlanta office. This role involves performing cost management activities, preparing detailed cost estimates, facilitating negotiations, and ensuring accurate tracking of subcontractor trade packages. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in managing project costs and providing recommendations to the construction management team.

Requirements

  • BA/BS + 4 years of related experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education.
  • Experience with construction means, methods, and sequences.
  • Prior field project engineering experience in facilities and commercial construction projects.
  • Experience in Construction Project management with a focus on Cost Management.

Nice To Haves

  • Data Center experience strongly preferred.
  • Experience with RS Means, NECA, and other industry standard cost estimating reference books.
  • Knowledge of and ability to manage work requests on multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Knowledge of and ability to read and interpret contract requirements and engineering drawings.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to concentrate in one or more estimating disciplines, including architecture, mechanical, electrical, fire protection, civil, and structural.
  • Familiarity with GMP and Design Build contracts.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of Microsoft Office Products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).

Responsibilities

  • Perform all cost management activities for each phase of the project.
  • Prepare detailed cost estimates driven by design changes and market-driven cost escalations.
  • Undertake GMP finalization exercise following the completion of GC Bid Process.
  • Communicate cost management expectations and processes to GC during kickoff meetings.
  • Review and track subcontractor trade packages issued by GC to ensure no discrepancies in scope, budget, and schedule.
  • Facilitate weekly cost management review meetings with construction management team and GC.
  • Provide meeting minutes and updated project status reports including change order logs and weekly cost summaries.
  • Setup and execute monthly invoice review processes including site inspections and validation of submitted quantities.
  • Manage change logs to track GC contingency, value engineering, proposed and potential change orders.
  • Prepare independent cost estimates for all proposed change orders and provide recommendations to the construction management team.
  • Attend and participate in all cost management related meetings as scheduled.
  • Review and negotiate with the GC to attain a final account figure recommendation for the construction management team.
  • Provide a final account report including GMP values, GMP buyout values, change orders, and GC contingency usage.
