About The Position

Our Nuclear Projects group is a Tier 1 provider to the U.S. Department of Energy, we deliver safe and innovative solutions at complex nuclear cleanup and production sites. Our services include program management, decommissioning, environmental remediation, waste and nuclear material management, nuclear operations, consulting, engineering, and construction. We are looking to add a Construction Cost Analyst to our growing team at the Spent Fuel Handling Project located approximately 55 miles outside of Idaho Falls. This position will support Amentum corporate financial systems and multiple EPCM construction projects. The Construction Cost Analyst will be responsible for: Analyzing financial data and assisting project management to validate and optimize project costs Assist with invoice review/approval, project baseline development/review, and performance tracking/reporting This role requires a deep understanding of construction processes and financial management. Reports to Project Controls Manager through the Project Controls Cost Analyst Manager Evaluate the cost structure and time phasing of construction projects, including materials, labor, and overhead expenses Prepare/review accurate budgets and forecasts, considering future financial needs and trends. Compare budgeted costs, earned value of completed work, and actual costs. Collaborate with technical managers and subcontractors to explain work accomplished and variances from original plan Provide recommendations to address any differences. Create detailed cost reports to provide management with insights into operational efficiency and cost trends Work closely with finance, operations, and procurement teams to ensure costs align with contract requirements and business goals Recommend changes to operational processes to reduce costs without compromising quality or efficiency Use knowledge of general application of construction and cost pricing principles, theories, concepts, and industry practices and standards to perform moderately complex assignments under general supervision To produce/review accurate estimates to complete on the SFHP project: Coordinate with project management and support staff to develop and maintain current total project forecasts Assist management to track and report project scope, schedule, and cost changes Assist project management to quantify future project risk and develop quantitative forecasts Assist project management to track reporting requirements externally from construction subcontractors and internally to project management Preparing daily, weekly, and monthly reports and other ad hoc reporting as requested by the Project Controls Manager Prepare and maintain historical actual and forecast cost data

Requirements

  • Advanced Microsoft Excel, Pivot Tables, Power BI expertise a plus
  • 4 or more years of experience, education can substitute for some experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in Math, Business, Accounting or other related field highly preferred
  • Ability to plan, organize, document, perform, review and present multiple sub-projects with minimum supervision
  • Solid understanding of business operations within the construction sector.
  • Communication skills including the ability to interact with all levels of the project team
  • Knowledge of specifications, sketches, blueprints, bills of material, and subcontractor quotations
  • U.S. Citizenship required.
  • Valid driver's license is required.
  • Must be able to work in a team atmosphere.
  • Must put forward professional behavior that enhances productivity and promotes teamwork and cooperation.
  • Grooming and dress must be appropriate for the position and must not impose a safety risk/hazard on the employee or others.
  • Must take and pass a pre-employment drug, background check and site security badge screening

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with project accounting and cost estimating is a plus
  • Experience with EVMS principles and application
  • Person already residing a commutable distance from the Idaho Falls area highly preferred
  • Experience large scale heavy industrial projects highly preferred
