About The Position

We are seeking a highly skilled Controller with extensive leadership experience in the construction industry to lead the divisional accounting team. The position will report directly to the SVP of Accounting and work closely with the CFO and other Senior Leadership members.

Requirements

  • 7+ years of progressive financial leadership experience, with a strong background in construction accounting.
  • Experience with Procore or other construction project management software is required.
  • Strong ability to adapt quickly to evolving processes and business needs.
  • Demonstrated experience leading and developing construction accounting teams.
  • CPA is required.
  • Strong leadership and change management skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-growth environment.
  • Analytical mindset with attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication and cross-functional collaboration skills.
  • Strong knowledge of construction accounting principles, including job costing, WIP reporting, and revenue recognition.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with NetSuite is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Lead a high-performing construction accounting team, fostering a culture of accountability and continuous improvement.
  • Develop and implement financial controls and best practices for the construction industry to mitigate risks and enhance compliance.
  • Collaborate with senior leadership to drive financial strategies that align with business objectives.
  • Oversee job costing, contract compliance, revenue recognition and overall project financial performance, ensuring alignment with company objectives.
  • Ensure timely and accurate financial reporting, adhering to GAAP standards.
  • Manage month-end, quarter-end, and year-end closing processes.
  • Oversee audits, and regulatory requirements for the construction division.
  • Leverage Procore and NetSuite to enhance financial workflows and reporting.
  • Continuously assess and refine financial processes to improve efficiency and scalability.
  • Drive automation and technology adoption to streamline operations.
  • Manage cash flow forecasting, budgeting, and financial planning for all construction projects.
  • Supervise the monthly revenue recognition process by leading a team of construction project accountants that own the financial details of their respective jobs which includes the executed contract values, projected final costs, customer billings to date and construction costs to date.
  • Work cross-functionally with Executives, project managers, procurement, and operations teams to ensure financial alignment.
  • Ensure timely and accurate billing/collection of customer construction pay applications.
  • Ensure timely and accurate processing/payment of subcontractor pay applications and vendors invoices.
