About The Position

The position involves assisting various craftsmen in their work within a specific construction area, ensuring that all tasks are performed according to generally accepted standards of the craft. The role includes supervising workers assigned to the area of responsibility to ensure that construction complies with drawings and specifications while meeting quality standards. The individual will act as the competent person on the job, identifying existing and predictable hazards that may be unsanitary, hazardous, or dangerous to employees, and will have the authority to halt operations or remove employees from dangerous environments.

Requirements

• Experience in construction or a related field
• Knowledge of safety policies and procedures
• Ability to supervise and coordinate the activities of workers
• Familiarity with construction drawings and specifications
• Basic skills in mixing cement and handling construction materials

Nice To Haves

• Certification in safety management
• Experience with scaffolding rigging
• Ability to operate concrete mixing machines
• Experience in supervising construction teams

Responsibilities

• Assist craftsmen in their work within a construction area
• Supervise workers to ensure compliance with drawings and specifications
• Act as the competent person by identifying hazards and ensuring safety
• Mix cement using a hoe or concrete mixing machine
• Load, transport, unload, and furnish materials and tools to craft workers
• Clean work area and restock supplies as necessary
• Rig mobile and stationary scaffolding according to guidelines
• Assist in lifting, positioning, and securing materials during installation
• Perform minor maintenance or cleaning of tools and equipment
• Remove rough or defective spots from concrete using tools like grinders and chisels
• Supervise and coordinate activities of assigned workers
• Establish and adjust work sequences to meet construction schedules
• Communicate progress to the superintendent
• Ensure workers understand the company's safety policies
• Maintain liaison with customer's representative and advise on potential problems.
