About The Position

The Construction Co-Op position for Spring 2026 is designed for undergraduate students seeking hands-on practical experience in the construction field. Interns will assist project teams in managing construction projects through all phases, from bidding to final completion. The role involves assignments in both office and job site settings, with potential relocation to remote sites as required. Transportation is necessary, and work hours will vary according to the intern's school schedule. In certain situations, housing may be provided.

Requirements

  • Open to undergraduate students.
  • Familiarity with software such as Primavera, Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Access, Microsoft PowerPoint, Microsoft Outlook, and Microsoft Exchange.

Responsibilities

  • Learning the engineering and technical aspects of the project both in the field and in the office.
  • Performing quantity take-off.
  • Conducting layout tasks.
  • Executing preconstruction/as-built surveys.
  • Reviewing and approving shop drawings and maintaining logs.
  • Reviewing and approving submittals and maintaining logs.
  • Reviewing and submitting Requests for Information (RFIs) and maintaining logs.
  • Responding to subcontractor RFIs.
  • Interfacing with subcontractors and suppliers.
  • Attending weekly progress meetings.
  • Assisting with coordinating work between the owner, architect, and subcontractors.
  • Assisting during the bid process.
  • Reviewing construction documents and specifications.
  • Reviewing all document revisions and clarifications.
  • Maintaining field records.
  • Assisting with estimates, budgets, value engineering, and constructability surveys.
  • Writing contracts and purchase orders.
  • Preparing billings to the owner and submitting change orders.
  • Approving invoices.
  • Ordering and expediting materials.
  • Scheduling and updates.
  • Assisting with quality control and safety.
  • Settling contracts.
  • Assisting with the permit process.
  • Performing costing, scheduling, estimating, and project management.
  • Managing punchlist and project closeout.
  • Cooperating and working with field project management.
  • Performing any other duties as assigned.
