About The Position

J.S. Held is actively seeking a Senior Consultant for the Construction Advisory Team in the Boston, MA area, specializing in schedule development and maintenance. This position is for a professional who has knowledge or experience with contract and/or change order management, critical path scheduling analysis, preparation of change orders or claims, cost analysis and quantification of damages, review of drawings and specifications, and other engineering and construction-related documents. Prior scheduling experience on active construction in commercial, mixed-use development is highly preferred. Experience in scheduling active highway, heavy civil, rail, pharmaceutical, energy, institution or federal projects is beneficial but not necessary. The work performed by the Senior Consultant includes the development, review, and analysis of construction schedules, job cost reports, labor records, production quantities, earned values, project reports, change orders, contracts, correspondence, estimating and other project records.

Requirements

  • 4+ years experience with construction firms, construction scheduling firm, or a construction claim/dispute firm
  • 2+ years experience with responsibility for scheduling assignments using Oracle Primavera P6 Scheduling software or equivalent
  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Architecture, or an Engineering discipline such as Structural, Civil, Electrical, MEP etc.
  • Analytical aptitudes and attention to detail
  • Critical thinking and problem-solving abilities
  • Estimating experience preferred but not necessary
  • Bluebeam or other PDF management software
  • Microsoft Office – Intermediate skills required, advanced skills preferred
  • Must live in or near the Boston, Massachusetts area.

  • Capability to develop Power BI Dashboards preferred
  • Member Association for the Advancement of Cost Engineering (AACEi) preferred
  • Member Project Management Institute preferred
  • Registration/Certificates a plus: Oracle Primavera P6 Professional Trained, OSHA 10, PSP, PMP, PMI-SP, PE, EIT, LEED, CSL

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain project schedules in Oracle Primavera P6
  • Lead coordination with client to engage the development and maintenance of project schedules
  • Evaluate the quality, progress, and risks of CPM schedules
  • Communicate observations on quality, progress, and risks in both verbal and written formats
  • Create, maintain, and publish schedule KPI reports
  • Perform and present schedule delay analysis
  • Assess scope changes to project schedules
  • Calculate loss of productivity/efficiency
  • Estimate and/or Analyze labor, equipment, materials, general conditions and indirect costs
  • Determine escalation cost of material and/or labor
  • Establish costs of extended general conditions and requirements
  • Quantify unabsorbed home office overhead costs
  • Review and organize project documents
  • Produce work products, draft memos, presentations, and reports
  • Travel as needed to project sites and client offices
