About The Position

The Construction Casualty Underwriter I or II position at Zurich involves managing complex new and renewal accounts in various insurance lines, including Auto, General Liability, Umbrella, and Worker's Compensation. Requirements

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent and 1 or more years of experience in the Insurance or Market Facing area, or 2 or more years in Claims or Underwriting Support.
  • Knowledge of the insurance industry and the legal and regulatory environment.
  • Knowledge of underwriting philosophy, techniques, and national/local filing regulations and guidelines.
  • For Underwriter II: High School Diploma or Equivalent and 3 or more years of experience in Underwriting or Market Facing area, or 6 or more years in Claims or Underwriting Support.
  • Zurich Certified Insurance Apprentice with an Associate Degree and relevant experience in Underwriting or Claims.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as a customer industry advocate to improve the customer experience by understanding their risk and offering tailored insurance solutions.
  • Utilize a disciplined approach to exposure evaluation, risk assessment, and pricing.
  • Leverage risk insights, data, and models to make informed decisions at the point of sale.
  • Engage in market-facing activities and production within the Construction division.
  • Administer and monitor underwriting rules, guidelines, insurance laws, and rating manual rules.
  • Work within broad limits and authorities on highly complex assignments.
