About The Position

Corstone Contractors LLC is seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Construction Accountant to join their team. This full-time role involves managing financial records, payroll processing, and compliance with state and federal regulations. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in financial services, particularly in accrual accounting, and will be responsible for transitioning accounting processes from QuickBooks to Sage 300 for a subcontractor while supporting the main contractor's financial operations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance preferred.
  • Strong working knowledge of Excel and MS Office.
  • Experience with Sage 300 accounting and QuickBooks is highly desirable.
  • Experience with certified payroll processes.
  • Strong analytical and interpersonal skills with attention to detail.
  • Proven problem-solving and reasoning skills.
  • Ability to set priorities and meet deadlines.
  • Knowledge of state and federal employment laws.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive materials.

  • Construction industry experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Process weekly payroll for multiple states through Sage.
  • Handle all State and Federal reporting and remittances.
  • Collaborate with HR to ensure compliance with payroll wage laws.
  • Manage payroll-related compliance audits.
  • Support special projects and complete tasks in Accounts Payable (AP), Accounts Receivable (AR), and month-end processes as needed.
  • Transition accounting from a third party in QuickBooks to in-house management for Tapert Concrete.
  • Establish month-end processes and accurate financial reporting for Tapert Concrete.
  • Prepare and review monthly journal entries and reconciliations.
  • Prepare internal financial reporting and maintain Work In Progress (WIP) schedule.
  • Conduct monthly budget reviews and prepare project budget reports.
  • Review and process budget updates and prepare monthly recaps.
  • Track outstanding receivables and record payments in QuickBooks/Sage.
  • Prepare monthly excise tax returns and establish internal controls related to payroll and accounting.
